The Lord of the Rings by Kevin Wilson

The round door of Bag End blown open with morning light is the first thing that grabs you, and Kevin Wilson uses that same doorway-like framing across all three of his new Lord of the Rings prints to turn the trilogy into a set of thresholds: in The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo stands inside Bilbo’s home, small against that bright circle of the Shire beyond; The Two Towers shifts into cool blues, with Frodo at the mouth of a cavern looking toward a waterfall while Gollum crouches off to the side; and The Return of the King goes full heat and shadow, placing Frodo before the fire of Mount Doom, the path ahead lit in brutal orange. What ties them together is Wilson’s heavy black-and-gold design language, with each main image wrapped in ornate borders packed with little Middle-earth references, architecture, creatures, landscapes, and weapons, so the set reads almost like illuminated story pages for each film rather than three separate posters. Bottleneck Gallery is releasing the series today as three different giclée editions: a regular version plus silver foil and gold foil variants. One important note if you’re planning to grab them: these are only being offered as a complete three-poster set, so there won’t be any option to buy individual prints on their own. On sale this afternoon at 12PM ET.
