Cracked panes of glass split Eric Draven’s face into jagged fragments, with the crow itself emerging over his right shoulder, giving JS Rossbach’s take on The Crow a poster-like arrangement that still feels haunted and intimate. Rossbach keeps the palette cold and nearly monochrome, letting Brandon Lee’s pale makeup, smeared black eyes, and the blood-red title do most of the talking, while the shattered surface turns the whole image into something broken and memorial at the same time. It’s a smart choice for The Crow, a movie that has never really separated its style from its sense of loss, and Bottleneck Gallery is giving the release a few different formats to suit that image. Alongside the standard screen print edition, there will also be multi-layer and aluminum panel versions available when the print goes on sale Tuesday, July 14th through Bottleneck.
