Interstellar and It’s a Wonderful Life make for an unusual pairing, but Bottleneck Gallery’s new drop finds a nice balance between the cosmic and the deeply human through work by Yusman Ali and Andrew Rowland. The Interstellar pieces lean hard into scale and geometry. Both use that warm orange glow against deep blues and blacks in a way that immediately reads as Interstellar, and one of the versions will also be offered as a lenticular, which should suit the film’s sense of motion and dimensional weirdness. Rowland’s It’s a Wonderful Life goes in the opposite direction, building Bedford Falls as a miniature winter main street rising out of an open storybook, with George Bailey standing in the snow, arms raised, between shopfronts, streetlamps, and string lights under a bright moon. The grayscale approach fits the film perfectly, while the pop-up-book construction gives the whole image a handmade charm. All of the prints are giclées, with two Interstellar versions and the lenticular alongside It’s a Wonderful Life in a regular edition and two foil variants, on sale today via Bottleneck Gallery.
