Bag End by Brian Reedy & Rabbit of Seville by Tom Whalen

Tomorrow Bottleneck Gallery has new offerings from Brian Reedy and Tom Whalen. First up for BNG on Tuesday, Brian Reedy takes a stab at Bag End with some impressive linocut work. I’m always impressed with the creation of linocut prints in that they look extremely time consuming to make and unforgiving in terms of mistakes. Unlike digitally created artwork, mess up here and there is no “undo”. Reedy’s print, Bag End, is a 20″ x 20″ linocut print on lokta paper with hand-deckled edges. It will have an edition of 150 and cost $75. The other artwork dropping via BNG tomorrow comes from the Strong Man himself Tom Whalen. Whalen puts out so much high quality work, you wonder how he has the time to create so many different pieces. Some are just blessed with unending amounts of talent it seems. Tom’s new piece takes me back to my youth. I would watch Looney Tunes cartoons after school and on weekends and often saw the classic episode depicted in his new Rabbit of Seville print. This one is 12″ x 36″ and comes in two varieties. The regular version will have an edition of 100 and cost $45, while the variant will have an edition of 50 and cost $50. Both of Whalen’s prints and Bag End, go on sale Tuesday, March 15th at 12PM EST on the Bottleneck website.
