Thursday Vice Press is dropping artwork from Star Trek: The Original TV series with artwork by Lyndon Willoughby. What can you say about the original show, other than it was a groundbreaking when it was released. The characters became iconic and the show often talked about big issues like racism, sexism, war, and peace through its stories, using the science fiction setting to symbolically address real-world problems. While not initially a success, the show became a cult classic and gernered a massive following in the years to come.
The show also greatly influenced science and technology, inspiring many scientists and engineers to pursue their careers because of the series.
For the Vice Press drop, Lyndon Willoughby has done a fine job creating a piece focusing mainly on the Enterprise and Star Trek insignia, with some great contrast and colors used throughout. We really like the overall design of this one and it will drops in two editions when it goes on sale later today that will include a regular and foil lithograph. Costs and edition sizes are below and these will be available for purchase starting at 1PM EST today on the Vice Press website.
