This afternoon Bottleneck Gallery, in collaboration with Acme Archives, is releasing Star Wars Giclée and Acrylic panel artwork from visionary conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie. Back in the mid 1970’s George Lucas hired McQuarrie to create concept art for the Star Wars: A New Hope. What McQuarrie created was incredible and created the overall aesthetic and laid the foundation for the Star Wars franchise. His artwork included characters, ships and environments that would become hallmarks of the series. The pieces McQuarrie created helped push the project forward and helped Lucas secure funding and backing for the film that, without McQuarrie’s visions, may have been more difficult to acquire. As a kid we would look at books of his Star Wars art and just stare in awe at how amazing it looked and dream of living in a time like what he had created.
For the release BNG has selected 7 different pieces that will get both the Giclée and acrylic panel treatment. These will range in various sizes with the acrylic panels being the larger of the two pieces.
