Four Spider-portraits anchor Oliver Barrett’s new Bottleneck Gallery release. Returning to Spider-Man after his first showcase back in 2023, Barrett widens the frame this time with a tight set of character studies from across the Spider-Verse, each one built around the same yellow-orange field of radiating lines and hand-drawn spider-sense marks. Peter Parker appears first, cropped close and slightly off-center, the familiar red mask rendered with penciled texture and soft reflections in the lenses. Spider-Punk breaks that format just enough with metal spikes, a patched vest, and pin details that push the portrait into something louder and rougher. Spider-Man 2099 is all hard angles and deep blue-purple shadow, his red markings cutting across the face like armor, while the black-suited portrait reduces the whole idea to glossy curves, white eyes, and a colder set of warning lines overhead. It’s a smart second Spider-Man outing for Barrett, less about action than identity, and it lands at Bottleneck Gallery on Thursday, May 21st.
