Originally released in 2000, the film was a box office smash, with Russell Crowe taking home the Oscar for Best Actor along with Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The film won three other Oscar’s as well for Best Picture, Best Director (Scott) and Best Writing/Screenplay. The artwork from Doaly is anchored by the iconic helmet of Maximus, the inclusion of Roman architecture carved into the helmet is superb. You see Maximus traversing the fields and Commodus below him, the helmet a symbol of his journey from common solider to hero of the empire.
