Brazil by Matthew Woodson

Spoke Art continues its steady run of classic cinema prints with Matthew Woodson’s new take on Terry Gilliam’s Brazil. Woodson’s composition is very clever, industrial piping and mechanical parts fuse together to form a looming profile, evoking the film’s themes of faceless bureaucracy and individual disintegration. The muted palette, detailed imagery, and subtle nods to steam and surveillance give the piece a cold, methodical feel that fits Gilliam’s dystopia well. Woodson has been on a tear recently, mainly dropping artwork for Mutant, but also some releases with CODA and Spoke Art. These dropped yesterday, but both the regular and variant prints are still up for sale on the Spoke Art website right now.
