Aelita: Queen of Mars by Sam Chivers & Battleship Potemkin by Rafa Orrico

Tuesday we get a rare drop of alternative movie posters from Black Dragon Press, with artwork by Sam Chivers & Rafa Orrico. Sam Chivers is up first with his artwork for Aelita: Queen of Mars. Aelita is a 1924 Soviet silent film directed by Yakov Protazanov. It is one of the earliest examples of sci-fi cinema and is notable for its avant-garde art design and futuristic visuals. Very cool looking print from Chivers that is a 3 color screen print. The other two prints come from Rafa Orrico, who always does some great work with typography as is the case with these two releases for Battleship Potemkin. Potemkin is a 1925 silent Soviet film directed by Sergei Eisenstein. It is one of the most influential films in cinema history, renowned for its innovative use of montage, a revolutionary editing technique that Eisenstein pioneered. Orrico gives two takes on this film and these will also drop as screen prints. They go on sale today at 12PM EST on the Black Dragon Press website.
